Great Danes and Chickens

We made it to Tennessee fine and dandy, and we've been living it up on the farm ever since. We haven't been living in our RV, so we don't know if we can cross the state off our list, but Phil's sister has put us up in style in our own little guest house. I'm not going to write too much about anything right now since I do have pictures that I want to post alongside, and right now we're sitting in a Dodge dealership's lounge waiting for our poor truck to be diagnosed. We hope it's something relatively inexpensive, but when does that ever work out?   But I have chased some chickens (and collected their eggs), and we've played with a Great Dane named Savannah (along with seven other dogs of various sizes), helped fix up a barn for the big goat delivery tomorrow (along with a second Great Dane). It's been fun and relaxing and I'll show you soon.

We Survived Amazon 2009

And all we got was this lousy t-shirt.

T-Shirt

Okay, so really we got two of them.

Peak season at Amazon.com was an experiance.  We will be making some updates to our review in the next few weeks, but for now we will just say we are glad to go have Christmas.

This year we are going to my sister's new farm in Tennessee for the holidays. So you can expect to see some pictures of Sue chasing chickens posted pretty soon.

Realgination

Remember when toys used to inspire kids to greatness? Let's play doctor (not that kind of playing doctor), fireman, teacher, etc...Today's toys are a little more...shall we say...realistic? I stowed a toy yesterday that depicted a girl on the cover of the box with a platter of food, an apron and a hairnet-type hat. Her mouth bubble said, "May I take your order, please?" That's right. This toy wanted kids to use their imaginations and be...wait for it...a food server. And before all you cafe workers get all upset with me, I'm not bashing such jobs. Read about some of the jobs I've done lately. I just would like to think kids would have a few years of thinking they could be president before the cold, hard reality of mediocrity crushes all their ambitions.

What else have I seen on the shelves that amused me? There's Debbie Harry Barbie. Darth Tater (yep! Mr. Potato Head as Darth Vader...very cute, actually). Genuine fake owl pellets where you open the pellet and assemble bones to make the animal the owl ate (you can choose between bird, mole and vole). And laser tag seems to be making a comeback. I don't know if Barney from "How I Met Your Mother" had anything to do with that, but it seems really big.

A cool thing happened today. Phil was walking down an aisle and this young woman stopped him and asked him if he was Phil from RVfullhookup? It seems that she and her boyfriend started fulltiming this year, and learned about the Amazon job from our website. How cool is that?

Not much else to report. All but two of our friends are gone. Nick and Liz took off this morning to head to PA. And the two friends that are left are on the Outbound side of things, so we never see them. But don't feel bad for us. We still know the way to the Chinese buffet without any of them, so we'll be ok.

Still Kickin' (Though Not Pickin')

We're still alive, and although we haven't forgotten about our website, we haven't the energy lately. Phil reminded me that I always have a December slump anyway, but I'll try to be better. I'll update the pictures at least, even if I have nothing to write about. We have about 14 more days of work left, and we're still stowing. We did get switched to a couple of days of picking, but after Cyber Monday, we were sent back to stowing. Order more, dammit.

We're looking forward to moving on to Tennessee when this is over and having a merry Christmas with Phil's family. I'll definitely have more to say then.
