Arizona Blizzards
It's been snowing for the past 24 hours, and it's getting pretty ugly out there. We got to leave work two hours early yesterday, and we didn't have to open until 10:00 a.m. this morning, so that part of it has been fun. We had a ranger in yesterday afternoon who let us listen to her work radio so we could hear all the calls to dispatch. We heard of cars and trucks running off the road, buses getting stuck and wrecking, and just general mayhem. They closed two roads in the park completely yesterday afternoon, and they aren't open as of yet. But still the folks come. It doesn't help that it's a holiday weekend. I'm just thankful for our 4-wheel drive. Sporty little Mustangs aren't doing too well out there right now. (I'm picking on some tourist when I say that...we came into our parking lot and had to drive around an abandoned little black Mustang that was parked in the bus lane. Yikes!)
But that's all the drama that's happening with us for the time being. If they open the one road back up, I have to drive 22 miles to work tomorrow, and I can't say I'm looking forward to it. If the snow keeps falling, maybe that road will stay closed and I'll get a free day off, and a paid holiday day at that! I won't get my hopes up, though. Here are a few snowy pics from the canyon to set the mood, though:

And a nice shot of Yaki Point just for fun:
