Float Trip
Our end of days is drawing near, and we've been trying to get out and
about on our days off. We've also been taking early-morning walks with
the dogs because the one section of our campground is now closed to the
public, so it's nice to be alone again. The campground is looking pretty
good lately with the colors changing and all.

We don't have many colors besides yellow, but it's still quite lovely.
We also took a walk down by the river in our campground to try to see some otters or something, but the only aquatic life that day were skippers.

The sunrise is later now too, so we actually get to see some of it on our way to work.

On Monday, we took a float trip down the Snake River. Our neighbor gave us the trip because she got it for her mom and brother, who decided they couldn't go. Don't feel too bad for her...she didn't pay for it either. If you work for Visitor Centers, you get a lot of free stuff around here. We had gone whitewater rafting before, but we never had taken a liesurely float, so this was a nice change. And we met some really cool folks from Virginia too, who were nice enough to take our picture.

And our guide, Andy, was fun and informative, always a nice combo.

And yes, he's resting his oar on his backside. He did that a lot.
We didn't see much wildlife on our trip except for birds, but it was
fun anyway. And it was nice to see our mountains from a different
vantage point.

The following picture is a sore subject around the park right now. It's of Menor's Ferry. Usually folks can take this little ferry across the river, but a ranger friend of ours wrecked it earlier in the season, and it's sort of sunk right now. He broke his wrist too, so he was really, really bummed about the whole ordeal.

That about does it for me for now. Only one more day off before it's
time to head southward, so if you don't hear from me for a little while,
don't be too concerned.
