Two pugs, two cats, two people and endless roads.

Little Red Dogs

We seem to be experiencing a bit of déjà vu with the truck, so if this story sounds familiar, it’s not you, it’s me. The Dodge place here said we had a bum transfer case. When that happens, they call a place in Idaho and do an exchange. The Idaho place gets our transfer case, and sends the Dodge place someone else’s transfer case that was refurbished. When they called to get that switch-a-roo in the works, the Idaho place, for the first time in five years, did not have one to send out. So the Dodge place had to rip ours out, send it to the Idaho place to get fixed, and then get it shipped back to us. Needless to say, we couldn’t have our truck in the meantime, so we had to shell out for a rental car. We took our truck in last Monday…they got a new transfer case in on Friday. We got to pick up our truck at closing time on Friday, and were told they didn’t get a chance to test drive it, so they wanted us to call if we had any problems. On our way home that evening, the same problem that we took the truck in for in the first place happened again…and again…and again. So now it’s another Monday and the truck is back in the shop. But now we have a newly refurbished transfer case. Piece by piece, we’re going to have a brand-new truck soon.

On the wild side of life, we’re getting to see a lot of wildlife right now. Since Wyoming got gobs and gobs of snow this past winter, and it’s taking awhile for it all to melt off, the animals who usually are on their way out of here are stuck. You can’t take a hike right now, but at least you can see some animals. And it’s birthing time for the bison, so we get to see the red-headed “dogs” out there with the big boys and girls. (A tourist asked us once what the red dogs were doing out there with the bison, so that’s where that comes from , in case you were wondering.) The following shots are sort of a flip-book sequence of events. We scared the little bugger off the road the other morning on our way to work:

AWWWWW! See mom, I don’t hate all babies.

We also saw five moose that morning, but hardly any of my pictures came out. The moose aren’t all that impressive yet anyway since their antlers are just starting to grow back. And I took some pictures of elk that morning too, but who needs to see more elk pictures?

There’s a lot of construction going on at our campground right now, and it’s making it easy on the bison. They don’t have to go through the trouble of making their own wallows. The bull-dozers are doing it for them.

That’s about all the news for this Monday. Until the snow melts, we can’t do much of anything. I’ll leave you with some more bison pictures, though, to get you through your Monday.

Our neighbors dont have any little red dogs that I have been able to see. Of course, ours are kept behind two sets of fences. I think the winds are so bad this year, they could have blown the babies away. Hoping to hear good Beast news next week! Hugs--pat
