Time and a Half
I missed a couple of Mondays, but I was working. A coworker wanted to switch with us, and being the nice and friendly folks that we are, we agreed. Of course, I don't have an excuse for not writing last Tuesday or Wednesday...oh wait. I sort of do. We decided to do our town things on Wednesday last week, so we were heading into town to do some grocery shopping and the library (and internet) stuff, but we passed Lewis and Clark Whitewater Rafting and decided to stop in and see what kind of locals specials they were having this year. We got there at about 10:05 a.m. and they asked us if we could be on the raft at 10:30 a.m. Well sure! So we paid them our $2.00 and that was that. With all the runoff from the snow melt, the water was running way faster than normal for the time of year, and there was an avalanche that caused a new rapid that was sooooooo cool, so we had a great time. No pictures since I didn't know I was going to be doing it that day, but you'll forgive me, won't you? We found out from our neighbors that another rafting company gives locals free rides, so we're going to try them next. I think the high water is scaring people off, and so there's still room for us. Yay!
We didn't get flooded out yet, but there's still lots of snow on the mountains, so it's still a possibility.

At our RV park, our neighbors are separated from their fire pit by a little stream that didn't exist a couple of weeks ago, so it's getting close to home. I never thought it would get that close to us. Phil and I think we should be ok, though. It will flood the neighbors first. We're inflating the kayak just in case. I'm just not sure if our RV insurance covers floods.
We hope ya'll had a good fourth of July. We worked, so we got time and a half. We do love that. It seems like all the holidays this summer are on our days off, so it was nice to get switched for one of them.
There are more moose jams lately than any other wildlife, but we still have the buffalo roaming every now and again. We stopped and watched these guys on June 26th.

He was really enjoying himself on that post. A little too much, we thought.

It's the bird buddies that got us, too. They seemed to enjoy the ride.

And then there's always the lovely scenery of the Tetons.

Usually that water is pretty placid, and those trees in the middle used to be on a little island, so you can sort of see what I mean about the snow melt this year.
I think I will end this with some pictures of the pugs. We got a phone call the other day from the rescue group we got Xander from. We thought that was cool that they were still checking up on him after all these years. We gave them the URL for the website so they could look at pictures of him. I hope they did. We're so glad they agreed to adopt him out to us, even with our unconventional life. Even though they did throw Phil off a bit because when they called, they asked how Diablo was doing, so Phil said, "Who?" We exorcised his demon ways years ago. But just a tip for rescue groups who actually want to get dogs adopted...don't name them after Satan. It does give people pause.

I will be back on track next Monday, so until then, we hope all is well with our readers, and we hope some of you can come and visit us in the Tetons soon
