Heartland States

Illinois

Indiana Tennessee

Kentucky

Michigan Wisconsin

Ohio

Illinois

We’ve driven through a few times, but have yet to stay here. Check back in a few months.

Indiana

Heartland Resort in Greenfield, IN

This park was our first stop outside of Pennsylvania. In season, it would provide plenty to do with a golf course, pool and fishing all in the resort. But we stayed there out of season and it had a lonely feel about it. We almost got blown out of the park by winds that night, but freak tornadoes aside it would probably be a good place to spend some time.

Kentucky

Another one we have missed so far. Check back in awhile.

Michigan

Tee Pee Campground, Mackinaw City, MI

We originally planned to stay in another campground in Mackinaw City, but the sites were very small, so we came down the road to the Tee Pee Campground. The sites here were not much larger, but they were laid out better which made it easier to back in. Most sites had FHU or at least power and water. All sites were on grass. The campground has a shore-front playground with great views of the bridge and Mackinaw Island.

Ohio

Milan Travel Park, Milan, OH

This park is located just off the turnpike (I80/I90) in north central Ohio. It has nice paved roads and good sized pull-through spots with FHU. There is a clubhouse with a game room, swimming pool (seasonal) and bathrooms located at either end of the park. Not a bad place to stop for the night.

Tennessee

Anderson Farms, Enville, TN
This is another one of those campgrounds where it matters who you know. In this case, you have to know my sister. While there are no hook ups and the driveway is a bit overgrown, the guest house is comfortable, they provide you with great food, and the grounds are amazing. Definitely worth going back for.

Wisconsin

Frontier Bar & Campground, Saxon, WI

When we first pulled into this park along RT 2 in northern Wisconsin we were not too sure about stopping here for the night. We could not see any of the park, just the bar and gas station and one or two small sites. But the park stretches back into the woods and has plenty of pull-through sites with FHU. They have a bathhouse (25 cents for a shower), large play area and a driving range. Not a bad place for a night or a weekend.
